Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surveyor, Underground to join our team in Nunavut, Canada. As a key member of our mining operations team, you will be responsible for conducting detailed underground surveys to determine the precise location, elevation, and dimensions of underground passages. You will utilize advanced surveying equipment and technology, including total stations, GPS, and laser scanners, to ensure accurate measurements and calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed underground surveys to determine the precise location, elevation, and dimensions of underground passages;
  • Utilize advanced surveying equipment and technology, including total stations, GPS, and laser scanners;
  • Perform vertical raise layouts, control surveys, stope markups, and vent surveys;
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites;
  • Collaborate with mining engineers, geologists, and other technical staff to integrate survey data into mining plans and operations;
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols while performing underground surveys;
  • Complete risk assessments and hazard identification in surveyed areas;
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation of survey findings and present them to management;
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of surveying equipment.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years' experience in surveying underground mining production;
  • Diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Mining Technology, or a related field;
  • Proficiency in using surveying instruments (total stations, GPS, laser scanners) and related software (Deswik, or AutoCAD);
  • Knowledge of overall mining methods with a focus on underground mining methods.
