We are seeking a highly skilled Child Development Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health.

About the Role

This is a full-time opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families in our community.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, initiate, and monitor daily activities designed to further the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children and adolescents.
  • Liaise with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure patient treatment plans are carried out and reinforced during play periods.
  • Observe, record, and report relevant information on patients' behavior, development levels, individual needs, and adjustment to the hospital environment.
  • Provide education to patients and parents by developing, preparing, and implementing orientation programs as requested.
  • Coordinate, orientate, and allocate work to volunteer staff assigned to the area.
  • Participate on designated program and professional committees by attending meetings, providing input, and advocating for the goals and objectives of the program/service.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as Child and Youth Care, Child Development, Psychology, Special Education, or Family Studies.
  • One year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Eligible for membership with the Child Life Council or the Canadian Association of Child Life Leaders.
  • Completion of Child Life Certification.
Estimated Salary

$73,000 - $93,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
