We are seeking a skilled Child Development Specialist to join our team at Roots and Wings Enterprises Limited. As a key member of our childcare staff, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing environment that fosters the growth and development of young children.

Job Summary

This is a $45,000 - $55,000 per year opportunity for an experienced early childhood educator who is passionate about providing high-quality care and education to children aged 0-12 years. About the Role

As a Child Development Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children;
  • Assessing children's development to prepare tailored learning plans;
  • Bathing, diapering, and feeding infants and toddlers;
  • Supervising staff, trainees, or volunteers;
  • Communicating with parents to keep them informed about their child's progress;
  • Leading activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and taking children on outings;
  • Ordering supplies and equipment;
  • Assisting with record-keeping and reporting;
  • Encouraging creativity through art, drama, music, and physical activity;
  • Guiding children in developing good eating, dressing, and toilet habits;
  • Observing children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and preparing reports for parents or supervisors;
  • Attending staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children;
  • Establishing guidelines for behavior and maintaining a healthy, safe, and welcoming environment;

In addition to these responsibilities, you will also be expected to:

  • Plan and maintain a collaborative relationship with co-workers and community service providers working with children;
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children in childcare programs before and after regular school hours;
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of other early childhood educators and assistants;

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate or equivalent qualification;
  • A First Aid Certificate; and
  • 1-2 years of experience working with children in a childcare setting.
