Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Geospatial Analyst to join our team in Simcoe. As an intern, you will assist in the development and maintenance of our GIS system, working closely with our Drainage Superintendents.

This exciting opportunity is perfect for students pursuing a degree in Planning, Engineering, or Geography, with a focus on GIS. You will gain valuable experience in data analysis, mapping, and problem-solving, while contributing to the growth and development of our county's infrastructure.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating new data layers for the County GIS and inputting relevant information
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop, digitize, scan, and print maps as needed
  • Update and maintain existing data to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Conduct fieldwork to collect data and map municipal infrastructure
  • Analyze collected data and query specific information from the County's GIS
  • Support surveying and inspection efforts related to municipal construction and maintenance projects

**Requirements:**

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary education program related to Planning, Engineering, or Geography
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, and geographic information systems (GIS), including ArcGIS and Collector for ArcGIS
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
