About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at Flower City Contracting Services Inc. as a Construction Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of workmanship in the construction of residential and commercial buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and layout building sites in accordance with building codes and regulations, using measuring tools and equipment.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join various materials, including wood, wood substitutes, and other materials, to create building components.
  • Construct foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems to ensure the structural integrity of buildings.
  • Fabricate and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to complete building components.
  • Estimate costs and materials to ensure projects are completed within budget.
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate existing buildings and structures to ensure they meet safety and building codes.
Work Environment

As a Carpenter with Flower City Contracting Services Inc., you will work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and a large workload. You will be required to work independently and as part of a team to ensure projects are completed on time.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent.
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in the building trades industry.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Reliability, team player, and organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for persons with disabilities, newcomers, and refugees.
Language and Work Schedule

The primary language of work is English, and the work schedule is 30 to 40 hours per week.
