Pediatric Otolaryngology Opportunity

BC Children's Hospital and the University of British Columbia are seeking a full-time Pediatric Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeon. As a vital member of our team, you will join a group of experienced professionals providing comprehensive care for infants and children throughout the province. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual to make a meaningful impact in the field of pediatric otolaryngology.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment, contributing to a busy clinical practice, including dedicated operating room time, multi-disciplinary clinics, and clinical outreach. On-call responsibilities will be shared among the team, ensuring a manageable workload. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of patients, including those from Indigenous communities, and contribute to the development of our division's academic programs.

Requirements

To be eligible, candidates must have completed fellowship training in Pediatric Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, certification in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Preference will be given to candidates with sub-specialty interest and experience in performing pediatric advanced otologic procedures. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, supported by advanced training in clinical research, surgical education, or quality improvement. Successful candidates must be eligible for and obtain an appointment to the Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine at UBC.

Reconciliation and Indigenous Cultural Safety

The successful candidate will be expected to uphold the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per the Truth & Reconciliation Commission (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019). A strong understanding of social, economic, political, and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples, as well as familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism, and Indigenous Cultural Safety, is essential.
