Health Care Social Worker

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our team. As a Health Care Social Worker, you will play a vital role in providing psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counselling, resource counselling, and discharge planning and case management to clients and their families.
You will be actively involved in advocacy, education, program planning, consultation, and collaboration on behalf of individuals and groups within the institution and community. This role requires a licensed professional who practices in accordance with a set of National/Provincial Standards and Code of Ethics and Department Procedures.
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work from a recognized university, current registration with the NSCSW, and 2 years of related clinical experience. You will also have knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and the ability to reach a joint formulation with the client and family.
We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate experience integrating various psychotherapeutic approaches, such as cognitive behavior therapy, solution-focused therapy, and/or motivational interviewing in both individual and group work. You will also have advanced psychotherapy skills, including brief therapies, and the ability to complete mental health assessments using DSM formulations.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, awareness of local community resources and agencies, and a valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
HoursThis is a permanent/part-time position, working 37.5 hours bi-weekly. The start date is as soon as possible.
Compensation and IncentivesThe hourly rate for this position is $37.13-$49.05.
