About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fire Protection System Technician to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in the service and inspection of fire protection piping, valves, and accessories for commercial and industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the servicing and inspection of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for work performed.
  • Collaborate with experienced technicians to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Perform physical labor, including lifting and carrying equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs.
  • Work in various environments, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Apprentices at all levels are eligible to apply.
  • Must be willing to join the UA 170 Vancouver Union.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work well with others and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the apprenticeship program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • UA 170 Vancouver Union member in good standing.

Compensation and Benefits

This position is subject to the terms of a Collective Agreement. The current pay rates for apprentices are as follows:

1st year: Starting rate of $24.84

2nd year: Starting rate of $31.61

3rd year: Starting rate of $36.13

4th year: Starting rate of $40.64
