About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Extractive Metallurgy Specialist to join our team at SGS. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading global organization in the field of extractive metallurgy.

Job Summary

This position will involve conducting a wide range of testing and analysis on base and precious metal ores, industrial minerals, and materials. The successful candidate will have a strong background in chemistry and metallurgical engineering technology, as well as experience working in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities
  • Perform moderate technological functions within laboratory or pilot plant operations, utilizing an applied approach.
  • Design, develop, test, install, and operate equipment and systems.
  • Conduct applied research and experimental testing, compiling and analyzing data to prepare reports.
  • Receive, inspect, sort, and label client samples, while maintaining a clean working environment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment or components, calibrating and setting up equipment prior to analysis.
Requirements
  • A post-secondary education (three-year diploma) in a Science related program (Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering Technology, etc.) is required.
  • A minimum of 1–3 years of experience in a laboratory setting is required.
  • Good hand/eye coordination when handling samples and various equipment.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Incumbents must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Proven effective time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English, in both verbal and written communication.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $85,000 - $115,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a generous retirement plan.
