At Mass. Electric Construction Company, we are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Project Manager to lead our projects in the Canadian transit market.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our projects deliver the agreed business benefits and act as the representative of the organization, playing a vital leadership role in supporting our business in the Canadian transit market.

Responsibilities
  • Selling and Marketing: Provide 'championship' for the project, selling and marketing the project throughout the organization.
  • Business Expertise: Provide business expertise and guidance to the Project Manager.
  • Link between Project and Business: Act as the link between the project, the business community and perhaps most importantly, management decision making groups.
  • Arbitrator: Act as an arbitrator and make decisions that may be beyond the authority of the Project Manager.
  • Project Launch: Ensure that the business need is valid, correctly prioritized and project is properly launched.
  • Project Viability: Ensure that the project remains a viable business proposition.
  • Risk Management: Ensure changes to the project are properly managed and risks are assessed.
  • Project Organization: Establish the project organization, roles and reporting structure.
  • Safety Guidelines: Ensure the project is following all Safety Guidelines and policies.
  • Key Deliverables: Approving key project deliverables.
  • Project Reviews: Initiating project reviews and supporting the process of review with project team.
  • Issue Resolution: Resolving issues (typically competition for resources and priority clashes).
  • Conflict Resolution: Resolving conflict and removing obstacles to progress.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering in any discipline from a four-year college or university.
  • At least 10+ years' related experience and/or training, specifically in the Electrical construction industry.
  • Experience leading multi-million dollar contracts, including ownership of operations, project administration, client relations and all other scopes relative to large construction projects.
  • Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control and administration, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
  • Professional Engineer License (desirable).
Other Requirements
  • Regular, reliable attendance.
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
