About Kent Legal:

We are a Toronto-based law firm specializing exclusively in tax matters. Our office is conveniently located in the Financial District.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a motivated and organized individual with a solid understanding of litigation, including Rules of Civil Procedures and knowledge of the Federal Court Rules and Tax Court of Canada rules.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting senior associates and junior associates;
  • Preparing correspondence, legal documents, court materials, and assembling documents electronically and in hard copy;
  • Managing electronic organization of all correspondence documents in a document management system;
  • Preparing internal and external communications, including letters, emails, and memos;
  • Managing client file deadlines and diarizing key dates in Outlook;
  • Preparing and delivering monthly client invoices and following up on outstanding accounts;
  • Opening, closing, and maintaining legal files;
  • Scheduling appointments and web meetings, conference calls, and managing calendars for lawyers;
  • Assisting with other administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a Legal Assistant Program;
  • 3-5 years of litigation experience within a law firm, with experience in corporate tax law an asset;
  • Solid understanding of litigation, including Rules of Civil Procedures, knowledge of the Federal Court Rules and Tax Court of Canada rules an asset;
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office, DocuSign, ACL, Adobe Acrobat, document management systems, experience with Aderant Accounting program an asset;
  • Confident and dependable, with strong initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented atmosphere;
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills;
  • Client-focused, professional, and positive attitude.
