Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Administrative Assistant to join our team at McMillan. As a key member of our employment and labour law group, you will provide administrative support to our lawyers and clients, ensuring the smooth operation of our practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to lawyers and clients, including drafting correspondence, managing documents, and coordinating meetings.
  • Assist with the preparation of court documents, pleadings, and other legal materials.
  • Support the management of limitation systems and filing with the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in employment and labour law, and provide guidance and support to lawyers and clients as needed.

Requirements

  • Legal Assistant Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in employment and labour law, including experience with the Human Rights Tribunal, Ontario Labour Relations Board, and Employment Tribunals.
  • Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and processes of the Superior Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court of Canada.
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting and provide exceptional client service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as experience with document management software.
