Job Title: Health and Safety Coordinator

KAPP Infrastructure Inc. is a leading Canadian General Heavy Civil Contractor with 40 years of experience in infrastructure construction projects. We deliver marquee projects in key markets including water distribution, hydro, underground works, large bridge structures, and other major civil works.

The Role:

As a Health and Safety Coordinator, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of our Safety Program and achieving a safe and accident-free workplace. You will work closely with the Health and Safety Manager to administer company and site-specific safe work requirements, develop safety instructional materials, and assist with the implementation of Return to Work plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the development and update of Job Hazard Analysis, Safe Work Procedures, and Project-specific safety documentation
  • Confirm all pre-work requirements of the company's Safety Program are satisfied before work commences
  • Assist the Safety Department with the development of safety-related instruction and materials
  • Meet and review the requirements of the Safety Program with company, subcontractors, supervisors, and workers
  • Assist the Safety Department in the collection and review of subcontractor submissions (JHAs, SWPs, worker training records, etc.)
  • Conduct new worker safety orientation, verify pre-work safety training requirements, and coordinate training requirements as necessary
  • Conduct weekly Site Inspections using the company safety software (SI) and oversee performance of weekly site inspections by supervisors
  • Participate in the company's Joint Health and Safety Committee and collect, maintain, and upload safety program records as specified
  • Assist with the implementation of Return to Work plans and prepare weekly/monthly reports on site safety performance
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of construction safety experience
  • Post-Secondary Education in Occupational, Health & Safety is preferred
  • Advanced-user Level of MS Office Applications/Microsoft 365 and fast-learner in using software
  • WSIB Claims, Return to Work, and Clearance Management knowledge is preferred
