Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Handyman Connection of Metro Vancouver, BC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruitment and Management: Recruit, select, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and discipline employees to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Communication and Planning: Communicate job expectations, plan, monitor, appraise, and review job contributions for employees and contractors.
  • Estimation and Reporting: Estimate materials and labor, prepare proposals, and use pricing techniques to ensure accurate financial planning.
  • Financial Management: Analyze data, sales, and profit on Excel, and prepare monthly reports to inform business decisions.
  • Tax and Compliance: Understand tax calculations, WCB, and collection of remittance for employees to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Forecast requirements, prepare an annual budget, schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions to ensure business growth.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, and ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
  • Professional Development: Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Staff Management: Manage staff and contractor levels, wages, hours, and contract labor to revenues.
  • Departmental Oversight: Responsible for all department managers and supervisors, with review and approval responsibility for all operations employees and contractors.
  • Accident Prevention: Run a safe, injury-free workplace at all locations.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with key operations vendors and contractors.
  • Invoice Review: Review and approve all operational invoices and ensure they are submitted for payment.
  • Customer Service: Serve as the primary point of contact for customer issues related to equipment quality, customer service, or accidents and mishaps on-site.
  • Communication: Communicate customer issues with the operations team and contractors, and devise ways to improve the customer experience.
  • Reporting: Work closely with the Owner and report on a daily basis regarding important issues.
Requirements:
  • Communication Skills: Possess clear and effective communication skills to satisfy the duties for a various range of clients, craftsmen, and contractors.
  • Negotiation and Liaison: Be able to conduct interviews, negotiate, and liaise effectively with both clients and contractors.
  • Language Proficiency: Have Fluent to Advanced English proficiency.
Education:
  • Degree or Certification: Hold a Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or a technical certification related to construction, service maintenance of buildings.
  • Numerical Literacy: Possess effective numerical literacy.
Schedule:
  • Work Schedule: Work an 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends.
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent.
Experience:
  • Repair and Renovation: Have 2 years of experience in repair and renovation (preferred).
COVID-19 Considerations:

All necessary Covid-19 precautions are in place in the office and remote work locations where jobs are carried out.

  • Remote Interview Process: Participate in a remote interview process.
  • Vaccination: Be double vaccinated to be eligible for work.
  • Masks: Wear masks during site visits to be eligible for work.
  • Office Masks: Wearing masks at the office is not mandatory due to having no interaction with clients at the office.
