About the Role

Graham is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team in Calgary or Edmonton. As a key member of our construction operations team, you will be responsible for project planning and start-up, project financials, project pre-construction, project execution, and close-out.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Preconstruction to prepare, revise, and monitor project budget reports.
  • Manage the subcontracting process, including facilitating initial scope review meetings, finalizing agreed processes, and managing subcontract distribution and execution.
  • Direct the process of determining project budget estimates and deliverables to clients.
  • Assist with hiring key personnel and subcontractors for the project.
  • Manage project administration and daily operations, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Manage project schedules and milestone dates, and ensure close-out checklists are prepared and maintained during the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain relationships and communication tools with suppliers and key project personnel to verify material, supply, tool, equipment, and personnel delivery.
  • Review performance standards and metrics against which the team will be measured.
  • Monitor the change management process, including identifying change events, submitting change notices, pricing and tracking change work, and negotiating change orders with clients.
  • Ensure project sites and company assets are secure, and maintain a safe and respectful working environment.
  • Provide input into the completion of an organizational and responsibility matrix at the start of the project.
  • Review contract documents to obtain a clear understanding of deliverables, ensuring project work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage the review and communication of objectives for critical milestones, budget, schedule, and client satisfaction measurements to project team members.
  • Assist in the input of regular status reports for company executives and project-steering committees, detailing project status and recommending actions.
  • Take direct ownership and responsibility for the development, implementation, and execution of the Project Specific Safety Plan.
  • Take personal responsibility for own health and safety, and that of other workers, visitors to the site(s), the community, and the environment.
  • Analyze the environment for potential risks or safety hazards.
  • Monitor and measure HSE goals and expectations using Key Performance Indicators.
  • Understand and comply with client requirements, Occupational Health and Safety regulations, and all applicable government laws and regulations.
  • Ensure the implementation of the Project Specific Quality Plan on the project site by all project stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Approximately 10-15 years of experience at a general contractor or subcontractor.
  • Willing to be mobile and travel.
  • Civil, Mechanical, and/or Electrical background.
  • Sector experience in Transportation, Water, Rail, Power, and/or Nuclear.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in alternative delivery models.
  • Strong understanding of design management, commissioning, and design/build.
Working Conditions

The majority of work is completed on job sites in an office trailer or in an existing on-site structure. Due to daily condition changes on construction projects, employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the company's safety policies and as required for weather conditions. The incumbent may need to relocate to other site locations in the local region as required.
