Job Summary

Canadian Plains is seeking a skilled Estimator to contribute to the development of an overall cost strategy and execution plan. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for material and quantity take-offs, preparing bids, and assisting with contract deliverables. Your expertise will be essential in preparing tender submissions, pre-construction conceptual estimates for oil and gas facilities and above ground pipelines, and project schedules for review by the project manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the preparation of tender submissions, pre-construction conceptual estimates, and project schedules for review by the project manager.
  • Obtain, review, and compile subcontractor quotations, advising of changes in subcontractor information for file update.
  • Prepare initial cost summaries for projects.
  • Provide technical assistance on negotiating contracts.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A relevant diploma or bachelor's degree in a field such as business administration or a trade certificate is preferred.
  • Five years of experience in the oil and gas construction industry with hands-on experience.
  • Five years of direct experience as an estimator.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical and structural requirements to estimate construction costs of oil and gas facilities and above ground pipelines.
  • Experience in producing both small and large plant facility cost estimates and plans.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly with MS Excel and MS Project.
  • Developed analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Meticulous record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Possesses an eye for detail.
  • Proactively seeks and accomplishes tasks that lead to a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
