Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Disability Claims Adjudicator to join our team at People Corporation. As a Disability Claims Adjudicator, you will play a critical role in reviewing short-term disability applications, determining initial eligibility and entitlement to benefits, and ensuring that all pertinent information is secured for the assessment of the claim.

Key Responsibilities
  • Claims Review and Assessment: Review short-term disability applications to determine initial eligibility and entitlement to benefits based on medical and contractual requirements.
  • Application Completion and Verification: Ensure that applications are complete and all necessary information is secured for the assessment of the claim.
  • Client Communication and Coordination: Evaluate claims by communicating with clients, employers, and health professionals to gather necessary information and assess function to determine work-readiness.
  • Return to Work Coordination: Coordinate a suitable return to work for clients and communicate decisions to clients both verbally and in writing.
  • Issue Resolution: Resolve client issues and concerns in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Case Management: Oversee case until return to work or refer claim for case management, as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in a health-related field.
  • Language: Fluency in Portuguese is required.
  • Experience: Minimum two years experience in a medical, benefits administration, or claims setting.
  • Skills: Strong assessment and decision-making skills, highly organized with strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality in handling confidential medical information.
