Overview

The Jenbacher Field Service Technician will perform mechanical and/or electrical service work on Jenbacher Gas Engines ranging from 0.35 to 4.5 MW, operating on natural gas or various other gases. Key tasks include commissioning, troubleshooting, periodic maintenance, and engine overhaul.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work safely and in accordance with the Company HSE policies.
  • Execute engine service in compliance with the maintenance protocol, including oil checks, filter replacements, valve settings, and diverse measurements.
  • Carry out planned service and minor repairs on engines as required.
  • Execute major engine service with colleagues.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electronic and mechanical engine symptoms.
  • Create service reports detailing reason for visit, symptoms, actions, hours, results, and follow-up actions if needed.
  • Process timesheets, expense reports, health and safety forms, and job reports in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the Service Manager on repair strategies to inform customer quotes.
  • Work effectively as part of a team of technicians or independently.
  • Mentor apprentices and support other technicians through information sharing and knowledge transfer.
  • Maintain and develop positive professional relationships with existing and potential internal and external customers.
  • Participate in internal and external training courses for personal and professional development.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience with Jenbacher Gas Engines.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and willingness to obtain an Alberta specific license.
  • Ability to drive long distances in compliance with our hours of work policy.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of engines, generators, controls, and balance of plant equipment is an asset.
  • High voltage, non-diesel generator, automation, and controls, or PLC controls experience is an asset.
  • Ability to use computer technology and SAP experience is an asset.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • English language speaking skills.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment health assessment, including a drug and alcohol test.
  • Ability to provide a clean driver's abstract at time of hire.
