Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified Part-Time Academic Upgrading Math Professor to join our team at Algonquin College. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating and guiding learning, providing an effective learning environment for all students, and teaching Academic Upgrading Mathematics courses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring student awareness of course learning outcomes and evaluation techniques;
- Providing a learning environment that makes effective use of available resources, including educational technologies;
- Evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student's work within assigned courses;
- Developing and creating a learning environment that is conducive to success for all students;
- Following Academic Upgrading program policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum four (4) year Degree in Mathematics or a related field of study;
- Bachelor of Education or other teaching certification preferred;
- Experience teaching Math;
- Experience teaching adults and the proven ability to advise students in their academic and career pursuits is preferred;
- Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in an educational setting;
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies;
- Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated skill in Algonquin College's preferred teaching competencies as set out in the Professor of the 21st Century document;
- Evidence of commitment to the success of all learners and the ability to engage a very diverse classroom;
- Daytime availability.
