Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineering Drafting Technologist to join our team at Demand For HR. As an Electrical Engineering Drafting Technologist, you will play a crucial role in supporting our team of electrical engineers in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Electrical Engineers: Collaborate with junior and senior electrical engineers to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Prepare Engineering Drawings: Utilize 2D computer-aided design software to create simple to moderately complex engineering drawings, including supporting calculations and documentation.
  • Read and Interpret Drawings: Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Generate Drawings: Create drawings in various formats for approval and use by project stakeholders.
  • Understand Electrical Distribution Systems: Possess a strong understanding of electrical distribution systems to design and modify drawings as required.
  • Perform Project Administration: Manage project information, drawings, files, spreadsheets, and records, as well as coordinate and communicate with project stakeholders.
  • Attend Meetings: Participate in design and project coordination meetings as required.
  • Summarize Parts and Materials: Summarize parts and materials from available literature and databases.
  • Perform Subdivision Inspections: Conduct subdivision inspections for assumption reviews.
  • Perform Contract Administration: Manage contract administration functions, including tender, award, quantity review, completion, and assumption work.
  • Work Flexible Hours: Be prepared to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet deadlines.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of a college program in Civil or Electrical Engineering Technical with drafting/CAD training.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of work experience in EE Drafter/Project Administration.
  • Electrical Distribution Systems: Understanding of electrical distribution systems is preferred.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs and detailed working knowledge of Autocad and MicroStation drafting software.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a good command of the English language, written and oral.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Independent Thinking: Creative and detail-oriented independent thinker.
  • Travel: Valid Ontario driver's license and own car required for local travel to customers' sites.
