Description:

Prairie Mountain Health is seeking 2 family physician(s) or internists to join the Hospitalist group at Brandon Regional Health Centre. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inpatient care and be able to work effectively in a team environment. The work week is Monday through Sunday, with on-site hours from 0800 to 1700. On-call responsibility is a minimum average of 3 nights per week.

The Brandon Regional Health Centre has 313 beds with a moderate-volume ER and a 10-bed ICU providing care to medical and surgical patients. Diagnostic Services include Radiology, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine. Other medical programs include Dialysis, Chemotherapy, Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Cardiology, Respirology, and Gastroenterology. BRHC is a satellite campus for the University of Manitoba and the Rady Faculty of Medicine, offering opportunities for teaching and mentoring medical learners.

The primary role of the hospitalist is to care for patients presenting to the hospital requiring inpatient admission who do not have a physician with admitting privileges. As the Most Responsible Physician, you will manage all care, including work-up, referrals, planning discharge, and liaising with community primary care providers.

  • Must be a member in good standing with the Canadian Medical Protective Association and have coverage in the appropriate category.
