Job Summary:

Lead the Engineering Team at Airbus Helicopters Canada Ltd

The Manager, Engineering will lead the overall solution/design, development and qualification/certification of a product (or a family of products) to satisfy Customer and Regulatory requirements in conjunction with AHCA's cost and schedule needs. They will be responsible for technical definition, quoting, Engineering deliverables, schedule, cost, quality and risk management aspects up to final Customer acceptance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Engineering Team: Plan, organize, direct and delegate work within the engineering department, identify and obtain required resources to perform required work, define goals and priorities for the team, and monitor Engineering department performance (KPI) and adapt in order to meet set objectives.
  • Coordinate with other AHCA Departments: Evaluate feasibility and estimates in support of new business development, assist in the resolution of customer technical queries and problems, represent the company in product liability litigation, and liaise with other key departments to provide support where required.
  • Manage AHCA's / Transport Canada relationship for Design activities: Create and maintain all engineering documentation required for compliance with company, industry, and regulatory requirements, interface with Transport Canada for all certification subjects, and undertake technical feasibility & quoting studies for development of new products and recommend solutions for establishment of proposals to Sales and Marketing under the guidance of the Program Management.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or equivalent, Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) license.
  • Experience: 7 years' experience working in an Aircraft/Aviation Engineering role, 3 years' Managerial experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities: Plan, organize, direct, control and delegate the activities and operations of an engineering department, coordinate and review the technical work of the department or project teams, leadership skills, attention to detail, proven ability to develop positive working relationships with staff and management, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Technical Systems Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 pack / Google Workspace, understanding of design Software (CATIA), business management software, advanced computer skills, and ERP system experience – preferably SAP.
