Lead the Engineering Team
The Senior Engineering Manager will oversee the overall solution/design, development, and qualification/certification of products to meet customer and regulatory requirements. They will be responsible for technical definition, quoting, engineering deliverables, schedule, cost, quality, and risk management aspects up to final customer acceptance.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage Engineering Team
- Plan, organize, direct, and delegate work within the engineering department
- Identify and obtain required resources to perform required work
- Define goals and priorities for the team that translate department strategies and objectives into clear added value activities and projects
- Focus on customer satisfaction and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure clarity, consistency, and communication of their requirements
- Monitor engineering department performance (KPI) and adapt to meet set objectives
- Endorse and support company commitments through seamless service and risk mitigation in own area of responsibility
- Establish and maintain all required department working procedures resulting from regulatory/corporate obligations and responsibilities
- Evaluate and reward key personnel to foster a harmonious, responsible, and performing team
- Assess and develop people strengths and competences according to future business needs and individual career plans
- Coordinate with other AHCA Departments
- Evaluate feasibility and estimates in support of new business development
- Assist in the resolution of customer technical queries and problems
- Represent the company in product liability litigation
- Liaise with other key departments to provide support where required
- Manage AHCA's / Transport Canada relationship for Design activities
- Create and maintain all engineering documentation required for compliance with company, industry, and regulatory requirements
- Interface with Transport Canada for all certification subjects
Design & Engineering Support
- Undertake technical feasibility and quoting studies for development of new products and recommend solutions for establishment of proposals to Sales and Marketing under the guidance of the Program Management
- Development of new helicopter components, optional equipment installations, including design, analysis, test, documentation, and certification as required to meet AHCA contracted obligations and airworthiness regulations
- Provide management with technical recommendations on aircraft-related design and manufacturing issues
- Provide sustaining engineering, product improvements, and engineering support for existing AHCA products and helicopters in service
- Provide support and expertise to Manufacturing to solve and dispose of design-induced NCRs
- Provide Manufacturing department with technical solutions for new manufacturing, assembly, and tooling and leadership for prototype and pre-series manufacturing
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or equivalent
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) license
Experience
- 7 years' experience working in an Aircraft/Aviation Engineering role
- 3 years' Managerial experience
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and delegate the activities and operations of an engineering department, and meet associated mission goals
- Coordinate and review the technical work of the department or project teams
- Leadership skills
- Attention to detail
- Proven ability to develop positive working relationships with staff and management
- Proactively address conflicts and problems
- Knowledge of and experience working with Airbus helicopters
- Knowledge of and experience working with Transport Canada Design regulations
- Provide support and expertise to manufacturing department
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Hands-on approach to design
Technical Systems Proficiency:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 pack / Google Workspace
- Understanding of design Software (CATIA)
- Business management software
- Advanced computer skills
- ERP system experience – preferably SAP
