Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced School Age Leader to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Vancouver. As a School Age Leader, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and programming for children in our School Age Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Planning and Implementation: Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program of activities that promote the physical, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Child Care and Supervision: Provide direct care and supervision to children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, providing regular updates and communicating effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Implement the YMCA A Place to Connect curriculum, with the support of your leader, to ensure a high-quality program that meets the needs of children.
  • Program Evaluation and Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of the program and make recommendations for improvement, ensuring that the program meets the needs of children and families.
Requirements
  • Education and Training: Must be 19 years of age and have a minimum of a high school diploma. Equivalent child-related training or a willingness to obtain training is required.
  • Certifications and Clearances: Must have a Responsible Adult certification, a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check with clear Vulnerable Sector Search, and current Child Care First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Experience and Skills: Must have experience working with children in a child care setting, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
