Job Summary

Horizon North is seeking a skilled tradesperson to join our team as a Plumber/Gas Fitter. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and gas systems in a remote, safety-sensitive location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and repair water lines, using hand tools such as pex cutters, drills, and screwdrivers.
  • Use crimping tools for water lines.
  • Install, repair, and replace fixtures and appliances, including showers, toilets, urinals, sinks, hot water tanks, kitchen equipment, washer/dryers, dishwashers, furnaces, and air conditioning units.
  • Operate a forklift, floor jack, or dolly to move larger fixtures and appliances into buildings.
  • Use torches, crimpers, drills, hand tools, pipe bender, manometer, threading machine, die heads, grinders, metal snips, and shears daily.
  • Apply glues for sealing and installation of appliances.
  • Work in accordance with the Gas Code and Plumbing Code.
  • Pull gas permits as required.
  • Load and unload materials, and move materials to work areas.
  • Maintain site equipment to the highest possible condition.
  • Liaise with the Area Superintendent and Maintenance Planner to keep up to date with all maintenance issues and complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the "curb appeal" of our facility, including highway signage.
  • Cleanliness and housekeeping of all areas inside and outside the facilities.
  • Ensure all site equipment is in good repair.
  • Clean and store tools and equipment, and clean work sites.
  • Effectively manage time and meet all necessary deadlines.
  • Interact with other departments to ensure the proper functioning of all systems on site.
  • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment at all times during work hours.

Requirements
  • Valid driver's license.
  • High school education and a Journeyman Certificate in Plumbing.
  • Class A Gas Technician certification.
  • 5 years of plumbing experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry and company codes, standards, regulations, and procedures.
  • Able to operate all hand and power tools required to perform tasks specific to trade.
  • Able to demonstrate organizational, time-management, and decision-making skills.
  • Able to manage a fluctuating workload and set priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work individually and as a team member.
  • Able to safely and comfortably carry out physical duties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to health and safety of self and co-workers.
