About the Role

At Farm Boy, we are committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience and creating a unique fresh food shopping experience. As a Department Head - Mechanical Operations, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our mechanical systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service and Support: Provide exceptional customer service and support to our customers, ensuring that their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Team Development and Leadership: Develop and lead a high-performing team, providing coaching, training, and recognition to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the team, store management, and other stakeholders to ensure that everyone is aligned and working towards common goals.
  • Retail Operations and Deliverables: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the mechanical department, ensuring that all tasks and responsibilities are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Store Coverage and Emergency Response: Participate in store coverage rotation as a Manager on Duty, ensuring that the store is secure and that any emergencies are handled promptly and effectively.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all health and safety policies and procedures are followed, and that the store is compliant with all relevant regulations and standards.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications and Training: Successful completion of a Public Health Food Handler certification, Smart Serve plus Level A First Aid and Basic CPR certification, or the commitment to complete within 6 months.
  • Skills and Abilities: Good judgment and decision-making abilities, skilled at working in a fast-paced environment, and flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Language and Communication: Fluency in English and French is an asset.
  • Physical Demands: Required to stand and walk for long periods of time during shift.
