Job Overview

As a Senior Commercial Mortgage Underwriter at EQ Bank | Equitable Bank, you will be responsible for the underwriting of construction and conventional commercial loans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite commercial credit facilities and perform additional credit-related and administrative duties for mortgage product types, including construction and conventional loans ranging from $2.5 million to $50 million.
  • Ensure compliance with established lending guidelines and procedures, making recommendations for approval to management.
  • Communicate with external contacts (origination partners) and internal contacts (funders, managers, administrators, and commercial mortgage sales staff) to process transactions efficiently and deliver superior customer service.
  • Manage deal flow effectively to meet prescribed deadlines.
Requirements
  • Proficient underwriting skills with a minimum 5 years of commercial mortgage experience.
  • Demonstrated service excellence within their field.
  • Post-secondary education (diploma/degree) preferred in business or finance.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word and Excel).
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business sense combined with sound technical knowledge of secured lending and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market.
  • Established organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Work Environment

The position will be located in Toronto, and you will work hybrid with in-office time spent at EQ Bank's office space at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.

Salary

Estimated salary range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
