We are seeking a skilled Commercial Mortgage Underwriter to join our team at EQ Bank | Equitable Bank. As a key member of our commercial lending team, you will be responsible for underwriting CMHC-insured and conventional commercial mortgages.
As a Commercial Mortgage Underwriter, you will work closely with our customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient processing of transactions. Your expertise in secured lending and analytical skills will enable you to make sound underwriting decisions, meeting compliance and control requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze and underwrite CMHC-insured commercial credit facilities ranging from $30MM-$150MM, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with external contacts (origination partners) and internal contacts (funders, managers, administrators, and commercial mortgage sales staff) to ensure timely processing and delivery of superior customer service.
- Manage your deal flow to meet prescribed deadlines, prioritizing tasks and managing competing demands.
- Perform administrative and reporting duties on a monthly basis, providing reliable data for Senior Management.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
- A minimum of 4 years' commercial mortgage experience, with proficiency in underwriting skills.
- Demonstrated service excellence within the field.
- Post-secondary education (diploma/degree) preferred, preferably in business or finance.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word and Excel).
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong business sense combined with technical knowledge of secured lending and market factors.
- Established organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability and desire to attend industry-related events as required.
$85,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
