Job Summary: We are seeking a seasoned Mining Engineer to lead our project management efforts in planning and controlling various mining projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in implementing project management methodologies, coordinating work activities with project managers and technical staff, and establishing methods to meet work schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement novel methodologies in conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and existing operation projects.
  • Prepare and create technical reports as a qualified person.
  • Conduct thorough design viability studies for underground mines and open pit mines.
  • Collaborate with teams to estimate project budgets, including feasibility studies, cash flow analysis, NPV, and IRR.
  • Design and construct pit layouts for short and long-term projects.
  • Compose clear and concise technical reports to communicate project findings.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of technical experience in a minerals-related profession.
  • Over 5 years of working experience in estimating project budgets from start to completion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert working knowledge of the mining and minerals industry, with rock mechanics as an asset.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead and manage people.
  • Superior organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using various computer software applications, including MS Project Management and Oracle.
  • Knowledge of specialized software, such as GEOVIA GEMS, WHITTLE, DATAMINE, SURPAC, SURPAC MINEX, or other relevant software.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Capacity to work well under pressure and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Willingsness to travel to other SGS locations or client sites as needed.
