This position offers a developmental opportunity for an individual to coordinate multiple work fronts, oversee processes, and collaborate with cross-functional team members. As part of the engineering team, the successful candidate will participate in team meetings, contribute to project strategy, and assist with project requirements when necessary.

The role requires working on-site at assigned project locations throughout the United States, including California, Montana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Arizona, North Dakota, Nevada, Colorado, and Texas. The selected candidate must be willing to relocate to their assigned project area and reside there. Remote work or fly-in-fly-out arrangements are not options for this position.

Responsibilities include:

  • High-level involvement in cost control system operations and analysis of construction costs
  • Participation in monthly forecasting revenue and costs accruals
  • Accumulation of necessary data and preparation of monthly pay estimates
  • Processing and estimating change orders and Requests for Information as directed by the Project Manager
  • Coordination and scheduling of shop drawings and submittals
  • Maintenance of complete and current records of submittals, approvals, and resubmittals, including files of letters of transmittal and dates of each transaction
  • Processing and managing material deliveries – ensuring materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality and comply with Contract documents
  • Management and negotiation of subcontractor and material contracts
  • Assistance in developing and updating project schedules
  • Collaboration with field construction personnel (Superintendents, Foremen, and Crews)
  • Support for quality control/quality assurance
  • Representation of Barnard on all assigned technical matters relating to expertise
  • Facilitation and attendance at technical and/or progress meetings as required
  • Review of progress reports and endorsement of invoices for services as required
  • Preparation and/or review of various reports and correspondences related to project technical issues
  • Regular contact with contractors, consultants, and other technical personnel

Key qualifications for this role include:

  • Willingness and ability to relocate to and reside in assigned project areas within the USA
  • Status as a Canadian citizen for work visa purposes
  • Possession of a four-year bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university for work visa purposes
  • Heavy civil construction experience
  • Experience working in the field on an active construction site
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and make sound business decisions in a timely manner to adapt to changing situations
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and coordinate the efforts of others to achieve objectives
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles, methods, and practices combined with sound judgment
  • Effective organizational, research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including technical report writing skills

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $95,000 - $125,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include a competitive compensation package, profit sharing, 401(k) plan, generous health insurance, and opportunities for career growth and development.
