About the Opportunity

The Social Work team at Nova Scotia Health Authority seeks a skilled and compassionate Health Care Social Worker to join their interdisciplinary healthcare team. This role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families across the province.

In this position, you will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to provide holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum. As a social worker, you will focus on the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.

About You
  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university is required.
  • You must be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers.
  • Two years of post-BSW clinical experience is necessary, with a preference for previous experience working in community-based settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach is essential.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based treatment approaches, including Motivational Interviewing and behavior change counseling, is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Biopsychosocial assessments of patients and families.
  • Development and implementation of effective intervention plans.
  • Collaboration with community partners to connect patients and families with local resources and agencies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

We offer a competitive salary of $33.96 - $42.89 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
