Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist works collaboratively with clients, caregivers, and families to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal function in self-care, productivity, and leisure. This role involves consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up in various settings, including hospitals, homes, and communities.
The Occupational Therapist establishes individualized treatment plans and goals, manages a busy caseload, and utilizes clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues daily. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required, as well as the ability to provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers.
This role contributes to the clinical education of occupational therapy students and related health disciplines, as well as the supervision of occupational therapy assistants. The Occupational Therapist adheres to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and the professional standards of the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia.
About You- Bachelor's degree or entry-level master's program in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university
- Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
- Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
- Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
- Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
