About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Child and Youth Care Practitioner to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our department, you will provide care and support to children and youth in need, working collaboratively with our team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized care and support to children and youth, addressing their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Develop and implement personalized care plans, working closely with our team to ensure effective implementation.
  • Collaborate with external professionals, including social workers, healthcare professionals, and law enforcement, to ensure comprehensive support for our clients.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of programs and activities, leveraging your creativity and expertise to enhance the lives of our clients.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Child and Youth Care or related field.
  • Experience working with children and youth, preferably in a care and support setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and mutual support.
