Homewood Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Nutrition Services to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of high-quality nutrition services that meet the needs of our patients and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain high-quality service standards and operations for patient dining and commercial operations, including the cafeteria, catering, and vending services.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and training to the nutrition services team, including supervisors and unionized staff.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff, including Registered Dietitians, to meet the needs of patients with specialized dietary requirements.
  • Manage food safety and quality through a complex system of control points.
  • Manage food requisitions, purchases, and inventory control for food and beverage supplies.
  • Maintain staffing levels to ensure effective, consistent, and safe daily activities.
  • Oversee adherence to Infection Control, Occupational Health and Safety, and applicable legislative and Health Centre policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and staff are aware, trained, and adhere to the safe operation and maintenance of all kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Foster a team culture aligned with Homewood Health Centre's values, creating a welcoming environment of wellness, excellence, creativity, adaptability, professionalism, continuous learning, respect, inclusivity, and discretion.
  • Initiate relevant continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in the development of annual operating and capital budgets and manage and monitor the budgets to ensure effective cost control measures are in place and financial targets are achieved.
  • Liaise with the U of G Masters of Nutrition Program and other affiliated programs.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Nutrition Science or a diploma in Food and Nutrition Management.
  • Member of Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) and/or active member of the College of Dietitians.
  • Red Seal Certification and/or cultural culinary knowledge would be an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a healthcare facility where quality is a requirement; experience in a specialized setting with knowledge of addiction and/or mental health would be an asset.
  • Experience managing in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food sensitivities and experience with menu planning, creation, costing, meal planning, and food preparation.
  • Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and clear communication skills, able to interact with staff and patients to build trust and develop rapport.
  • Strong financial management and accountability.
