Director, Site Reliability Engineering

Loblaw Companies Limited is seeking a seasoned Director, Site Reliability Engineering to lead our Technology Platforms and Compute Infrastructure teams. As a key member of our SRE team, you will ensure that our systems are built with industry standard practices and are able to scale with our customer base.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive technical design discussions with stakeholder teams to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Develop, recruit, and retain top engineering talent through mentorship, collaboration, and empathy.
  • Improve software engineering practices with a focus on infrastructure-as-code, toil reduction, and automation.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and balance business needs versus technical constraints.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to influence and guide the design and architecture of applications for improved reliability and performance.
Requirements:
  • Seasoned experience in leading impactful teams in a fast-paced, large volume and complex customer-facing environment.
  • Working experience in the Engineering and Computer Science space with a demonstrable understanding of Cloud Platforms, Cloud-Native Applications, Databases, Backup and Storage Solutions, and Cloud Cost Management.
  • Strong background in managing and scaling large-scale compute infrastructure in multi-cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Understanding of security best practices, compliance requirements, and vulnerability management in cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Hands-on technologist who can investigate and hold their own with senior engineers building scalable application platforms.
