Job Summary

RT Medical is seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team as a Clinical Care Specialist. In this role, you will provide exceptional care to individuals in long-term care facilities, utilizing your expertise in wound care, IV medications, and re-sites, catheter care, compression/VAC, and ostomy care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer Medications and Treatments: Safely administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring accurate dosages and timely delivery.
  • Monitor and Assess Residents' Health: Continuously monitor and assess residents' health conditions, identifying potential issues and taking proactive measures to prevent complications.
  • Provide Wound Care and Assist with Dressing Changes: Provide expert wound care, including dressing changes, to promote healing and prevent infection.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans, ensuring seamless coordination of care.
  • Educate Residents and Families: Educate residents and their families about health conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques, promoting empowerment and independence.
  • Ensure Residents' Safety and Comfort: Prioritize residents' safety and comfort, responding promptly to emergencies and providing immediate care as needed.
  • Document Residents' Health Status and Care Provided: Accurately document residents' health status and care provided, maintaining detailed records for future reference.
Requirements
  • Diploma from a Recognized RPN Program: Possess a diploma from a recognized RPN program or equivalent.
  • Registered Practical Nurse in Good Standing: Be a Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Experience in Long-Term Care: Have experience working in a long-term care or retirement home setting, with a strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges of this population.
  • Physical Abilities: Possess the physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach, with the ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR: Hold valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification.
  • Updated Immunization Records: Maintain updated immunization records, including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Checks: Have clear Vulnerable Sector checks completed within the last six months.
