About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Engineering to lead our Optical Sensor Development team at Lumentum. This role will be responsible for overseeing the development of state-of-the-art optical sensors used for dimensional metrology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the engineering team responsible for the development of optical sensors for dimensional metrology applications.
  • Drive the design, development, testing, and production of advanced optical sensors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Define and implement engineering processes, standards, and best practices to enhance product quality and development efficiency.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive products to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support business development efforts by providing technical expertise and participating in customer engagements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in optical sensor development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams in the development of complex optical systems.
  • Strong technical expertise in optical sensor technologies, dimensional metrology, or other related fields.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management and bringing products from concept to market.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
