Telesat, a leading global satellite operator, is seeking a seasoned Mission Assurance Director to join our team. As a key member of our Telesat Lightspeed program, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our revolutionary Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network.
About the Role:The Mission Assurance Director will be responsible for coordinating all program Mission Assurance activities, planning and managing the Telesat Lightspeed Mission Assurance Organization, and developing and maintaining a system for managing processes critical to Mission Success. This includes program quality processes, quality and nonconformity reporting and disposition, corrective and preventive action, supplier assurance, software assurance, operations quality, and independent reviews, audits, and investigations.
Main Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a vision for Mission Success
- Drive implementation and oversee execution of processes to ensure Telesat Lightspeed system Mission Success
- Develop and maintain a system for communicating, managing, and linking processes
- Provide training on processes to the Sr. Manager, Lightspeed Program Delivery
- Develop and advise senior management on communications related to Mission Assurance
- Work with the Director, Lightspeed Program Management Office to ensure effective Risk Management
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering Management is preferable
- At least 15 years' experience in engineering development involving both hardware and software, preferably working in communications or satellites
- At least 5 years' experience as a manager with Mission Assurance experience
- Ability to assess technical status and issues in hardware, software, and operations
- Expertise in failure and anomaly investigation, corrective action, preventive action, and continuous improvement
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in dealing with engineers, internal and external stakeholders, senior management, and staff
- General office environments
- Full-time office
- Prefer Telesat Ottawa office based, exceptional candidates based from another Telesat location will be considered
- Occasional travel, including international travel is anticipated
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
