Assistant Superintendent

PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Assistant Superintendent. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Project Management: Collaborate with site superintendents and lead project managers to implement PCL's safety program and maintain safety and record-keeping requirements.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, direct, coach, train, and mentor project teams, including direct and indirect reports.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with own forces and trades to ensure that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.
- Problem-Solving: Consistently collaborate with superintendents, construction/project managers, and project teams to advise on potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.
- Quality Control: Liaise between field engineers and estimators to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
- Project Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and assist with resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules.
- Project Monitoring: Monitor and execute the project construction plan and schedule.
- Contract Management: Review and understand the contract and subcontracts, including understanding risk and risk mitigation plans.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintain project administration correspondence and comply with documentation requirements.
- Education: Journeyman certificate or Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in a field engineer/field coordinator position or lead hand/foreman role preferred.
- Skills: Successfully supervised a construction workforce, knowledge of construction industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, and methods and procedures.
- Knowledge: Understanding of project scope and ability to apply basic engineering principles to resolve constructability challenges, understanding of project schedules and ability to identify the critical path, knowledge and understanding of scheduling software, knowledge of safety and environmental principles/procedures/legislation.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with client, consultants, trades, own forces work, and internal employees.
- Soft Skills: Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills, problem-solving abilities, and professional judgment.
