Job Summary

The Director of International Business Development and Operations will play a pivotal role in steering our social enterprise toward achieving its strategic objectives. This individual will manage all operational aspects to ensure optimal efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to expand market presence in both Canadian and international markets.
  • Drive global growth by utilizing dynamic marketing and sales initiatives.

  • Manage cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive execution of strategic goals across the organization.
  • Develop and execute marketing, sales, and business development strategies to drive international growth, market penetration, and increase brand awareness.
  • Steer the company through market changes and challenges, adopting proactive strategies to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and strategic partnerships to enhance the social enterprise's market position.
  • Ensure all levels of decision making in the company are aligned with and informed by the social impact framework.
  • Develop detailed sales forecasts that align with business operations and growth objectives to facilitate informed decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Propose and achieve financial goals, including sales revenue, market expansion, and customer base growth to drive overall business success.
  • Secure required financing to support strategic initiatives and operational requirements.
  • Monitor and manage financial performance by maintaining budgets and controlling expenses.
  • Develop and manage an international sales pipeline from lead generation to deal closure.
  • Design and refine organizational policies and processes to ensure highly efficient and effective operational practices across the organization.
  • Manage operational and strategic risks while ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards and practices to safeguard the organization's long-term sustainability and integrity internationally.
  • Monitor and report on business performance, making data-driven decisions to optimize operations.
  • Identify and engage potential partners, distributors, and clients to expand our market presence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, stakeholders, and educational institutions to support long-term business objectives.
  • Integrate social impact and the IDEA Policy (inclusion, diversity, equity, and access) into employee development and organizational practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, Education, or a related field.
  • MBA or equivalent is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a senior management role in a social enterprise or in the educational /edtech sector.
  • 3-5 years of financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis for strategic decision-making.
  • 3-5 years of international business development experience, using business strategies, stakeholder management, and cross-cultural skills to drive market entry and sales growth.
  • Proven experience in general management, operations management, or business growth and driving sales, with international sales experience in emerging markets and/or Europe considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business strategies with a social impact focus.
  • Knowledge of EU trade policies and agreements is an asset.
