Data Collection Specialist
Job SummaryThe University of British Columbia is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Academic Assistant to support data collection for a research study examining inter-ethnic relationships in the settlement sector. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and Research Coordinator to assist with participant recruitment, data collection via focus groups, and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Distribute participant recruitment materials according to study protocols
- Communicate with prospective participants about the study and manage participant registration
- Set up remote consent using the Qualtrics platform
- Tailor and refine project materials as needed
- Conduct virtual focus groups with study participants
- Manage data storage and organization
- Review and prepare transcripts for analysis
- Assist with qualitative data analysis using Nvivo software
- Liaise with the Research Coordinator and Principal Investigator regularly
- Graduate student in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Health Sciences, or a related field
- Experience with participant recruitment, data collection, and analysis processes in qualitative research
- Experience conducting research focus groups
- Experience using Qualtrics and Zoom videoconferencing technology
- Some familiarity with topics related to newcomer experiences, settlement, and/or inter-ethnic relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work within regulations and guidelines governing research
This position requires self-direction and the ability to work effectively within an organizational structure. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain confidentiality and discretion in their work.
