About the Geology Internship

Rio Tinto is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Geology Intern to join our team in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador. As a Geology Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects related to geotechnical pit inspections, data collection, and geological core logging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with geotechnical pit inspections and collect geotechnical data from active mine areas and brownfield properties.
  • Complete field work and collect hydrogeological and geotechnical data from various technical instruments.
  • Assist with geological and geotechnical core logging and sampling to collect pertinent data and ensure timely processing of samples.
  • Work to high standards for quality assurance, quality control, and data validation of all geological data.

Requirements:

  • At least one year completed of Geology, Earth Sciences, or Geological Engineering.
  • Safety mindset.
  • Leadership skills, eagerness to learn, and readiness for the challenge ahead.
  • Flexibility and autonomy.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Valid class 5 driving license (or equivalent).
