Job Summary:

This role reports to the Manager of The Family Birthing Centre and involves providing comprehensive, safe, effective, and ethical nursing care to clients in the labour, delivery, and postpartum units of the hospital.

Responsibilities:
  • Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Mandatory Qualifications:
    • Current (2 years) experience in labour/birthing or recovery
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider Certificate
    • Fetal Health Surveillance in Labour certificate
    • Perinatal Certificate
    • Breastfeeding Certificate or Board Certified Lactation Consultant
    • Able to perform venipuncture and I.V. starts
  • Mandatory Competencies:
    • Excellent patient assessment skills
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a team focus
    • Self-directed individual with the ability to work both independently and within an interprofessional team
    • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professionalism in nursing
    • Creative problem solver with a customer focus and patient-friendly approach
    • Proven critical thinking skills; Ability to multi-task and set priorities in a rapidly changing environment
    • Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills
    • Ability to be a coach, teacher, and mentor to colleagues and students
    • Ability to establish work relationships with external partners
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • High Risk Obstetrical Certificate
    • Advances in Labour and Risk Management (ALARM) certificate
    • More OB certificate
    Estimated Salary:

$85,000 - $105,000 per year, depending on experience
