Job Summary

The City of Cornwall is seeking a highly skilled By-law Enforcement Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Municipal Services department, you will play a critical role in enforcing Municipal By-Laws and regulations to preserve a high quality of life for our citizens.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce Municipal By-Laws and regulations through field assignments and public education initiatives.
  • Investigate complaints and conduct thorough investigations to ensure compliance with By-Laws and regulations.
  • Provide information and assistance to the public, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Collaborate with other municipal departments and external agencies to ensure effective enforcement of By-Laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and present evidence in court proceedings, including disclosure requests for evidence.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Community College diploma in Municipal Law Enforcement or graduate of Police College or Community College Policing Program.
  • Ontario Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Certification or eligibility to obtain it.
  • One to two years of experience in a Municipal By-Law Enforcement position, preferably with experience in court litigation proceedings.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with automated parking ticket devices and municipal software.
  • Class G Driver's License.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
