City of Cornwall - By-law Enforcement Officer

The City of Cornwall is currently seeking a dedicated By-law Enforcement Officer to join their team. Reporting to the Supervisor of By-law Services, this position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with a variety of municipal by-laws to maintain the quality of life for all citizens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforcing municipal by-laws related to noise, business licensing, animal control, property standards, parking, and traffic regulations
  • Providing information and support to the public, responding to inquiries and concerns
  • Investigating complaints and ensuring compliance with regulations, conducting thorough investigations and gathering evidence

Requirements:

  • Community College diploma in Municipal Law Enforcement or a related field
  • Ontario Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Certification or eligibility
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in municipal law enforcement
  • Experience with court litigation and evidence preparation, including testimony and report writing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and municipal software, including data management and record-keeping
  • Class G Driver's License, with a clean driving record
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders
