Program Overview

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is a leading pediatric rehabilitation hospital, renowned for its expertise in client and family-centred care practices.

We are seeking an Outpatient Playroom Program Coordinator to join our team, providing a supportive environment for clients and their siblings to engage in recreational activities and peer interaction.

About the Role

The Ronald McDonald Playroom staff are responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing adaptable recreation activities that cater to different interests and stages of cognitive and physical development.

  • Provide clients & siblings with supervised opportunities for recreational activities and peer interaction.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding the care needs of their children or youth.
  • Monitor and ensure that parents/guardians sign children/youth in and out of service and that they are aware of playroom policies and procedures.
Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining an orderly playroom and safe equipment within (includes sterilization/cleaning of toys, activity spaces, furniture etc.).
  • Following all playroom policies and procedures for opening, operating, and/or closing the playroom.
  • Recording stats that accurately reflect usage of the playroom.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Therapeutic Recreation.
  • Membership in the College of Early Childhood Educators or Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) or Association of Child and Youth Counsellors preferred.
  • Current CPR-C certification.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working with children/youth with disabilities (2.5 years – 18 years), previous work with children/youth without disabilities (2.5 years – 18 years), and experience in recreation and leisure program planning & implementation are assets.

Compensation Package

This position offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
