Fiscalist Job Description

Fed Finance is seeking a highly skilled Fiscalist to join our team in Saint-Hyacinthe. As a Fiscalist, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on tax laws and regulations, conducting research, and developing solutions to complex tax issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Stay up-to-date with tax laws, standards, and rules, and maintain and perfect your skills through ongoing training.
  • Provide advice and opinions on tax law interpretation, conduct research, and develop hypotheses for solutions.
  • Assist the Tax Manager in servicing clients, reviewing and analyzing corporate financial information, and conducting tax planning.
  • Review and prepare tax returns, identify potential planning opportunities, and assist clients with business reorganizations, financing, and purchase or sale of a business.
  • Communicate with clients on various Canadian tax issues, advise on tax implications of operations and transactions, and indicate appropriate action to be taken.
  • Draft service offers under the supervision of your superior, collaborate with other professionals to optimize tax impacts, and prepare files and ensure follow-up.
  • Prepare documents required to invoice clients for services rendered, ensure all expenses are included, and be responsible for customer collections.
  • Participate in the organization of the department's work, review corporate tax returns for small and medium-sized businesses, and analyze their impact on financial statements.
  • Act as a chartered accountant when required, review and supervise financial statements and tax returns of assigned clients, and perform certification mandates.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or DESS in taxation
  • CPA designation and/or relevant experience in an accounting firm
  • 3 years' experience in an accounting or tax firm
  • Very good knowledge of accounting and tax software (Caseware, taxprep)
  • Proficiency in Office suite software (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Fluency in spoken and written French
  • Working knowledge of English
  • Valid driving license and car available for travel
