Fiscal Policy Specialist

About the Role
As a Fiscal Policy Specialist at SCF Conseils, you will play a key role in planning and executing tax mandates. You will work closely with clients to gather information and documents, discuss accounting and taxation matters, and perform necessary tasks with intermediaries. You will also be responsible for correspondence and follow-ups.
Key Responsibilities
- Study laws, regulations, and rules related to your field of expertise and attend required training sessions to maintain and improve your skills.
- Respond to requests for opinions and interpretations of tax laws, conduct research, and develop solution hypotheses.
- Assist the Tax Director in providing services and supporting clients in areas such as company formation, incorporation, transfer, purchase, sale, financing, expansion projects, and other matters.
- Analyze and examine financial information from companies and develop tax planning strategies.
- Collaborate with agronomists, notaries, account managers, or investment brokers to optimize tax impacts.
- Inform clients through conferences, chronicles, and bulletins on various taxation-related topics, such as buying or selling, transfer, succession, company formation, incorporation, and agricultural financing.
- Conduct tax return reviews for small and medium-sized businesses and analyze their impact on financial statements.
- Act as a certified public accountant when necessary. Review and supervise clients' financial statements and tax returns. Perform certification mandates when required.
- Prepare opposition opinions and argue with tax authorities.
- Review and file tax returns. Identify potential planning opportunities.
- Assist clients with business reorganizations, financing, purchasing, or selling a business.
- Advise clients on the tax implications of operations and transactions and suggest measures to take.
- Write service offers under the supervision of your superior.
- Review dividend choice forms and other tax-related choices.
- Act as a trainer for new staff members. Provide support and accompany accountants in tax mandates.
Requirements
- Master's degree or DESS in taxation.
- CPA title and/or relevant experience in a accounting firm.
- Four (4) years of experience in accounting and taxation.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and taxation software (Caseware, taxprep).
- Fluency in French, both spoken and written.
- Functional knowledge of English.
- Leadership and teamwork skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and vehicle available for travel.
- Additional hours required during tax season.
