About This Role

In this exciting opportunity, you will join our Product Development teams at the Toronto Design Centre, where we provide innovative solutions to our customers through the design and development of AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies.

  • You will perform design verification and validation testing on AC-DC and DC-DC power supply products throughout various stages of the design process.
  • Perform troubleshooting and failure analysis of analog and power conversion circuits by analysis and calculation.
  • Lead complex design verification efforts and have opportunities to grow towards a Design Engineering position.
Key Responsibilities

This role entails:

  • Conducting root cause failure analysis of analog and power conversion circuits, including component stress evaluation.
  • Performing non-automated tests and evaluations on operating analog and some digital circuitry using discrete test equipment.
  • Setting up, debugging, and monitoring standard and specialized test equipment to verify and analyze the performance of electrical and electronic components and assemblies.
  • Demonstrating a strong knowledge of analog/digital electronic components and their limitations, analyzing circuit behavior.
  • Applying detailed understanding of specified parameters of BJT's, MOSFET's, diodes, opamps, comparators, and digital gates.
  • Maintaining respect for all safety rules.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A current enrollment in an Undergraduate or Graduate Electrical Engineering program with a focus on power electronics.
  • Some related working experience in electronic circuit troubleshooting to the component level and design verification, preferably with power conversion products.
  • A good understanding of analog electronic circuits with mathematical analysis skills.
  • Solid knowledge of electronic components, their characteristics, and specifications.
  • Skills in debugging and repairing analog and some digital circuitry to the component level using discrete test equipment.
  • A good understanding of electronic measurement instruments and techniques.
  • Hands-on skills for electronic circuit breadboarding and modifications to existing PCB assemblies.
  • Familiarity with general-use microcontrollers, DSP, serial bus communications, C language.
  • Soldering skills on medium-density SMD boards and high-power boards.
  • Nice-to-have experience in product qualification testing, EMI/EMC compliance, and product reliability verification.
