About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Learning Support Professional to join our team at DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting newcomers in their language acquisition journey.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work closely with our teaching staff to provide individualized support to clients, helping them to improve their English language skills. This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one support to clients in improving their English language skills;
  • Assist teaching staff in the classroom or with small group activities;
  • Prepare and duplicate teaching aids and materials as required;
  • Maintain accurate records and organize resources and equipment;
  • Facilitate conversation circles and assist in planning school events.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Minimum one year of recent and relevant experience working with adults in a related field;
  • Adult ESL, ELSA, or LINC volunteer or teaching experience required;
  • Strong interpersonal and English communication skills;
  • Knowledge of multicultural and settlement issues, especially as they pertain to immigrants and refugees.
